Kalona- Lena Ruth (Nissley) Coblentz of Kalona was born January 30, 1933, in Conway Springs, Kansas, the daughter of Lizzie Nissley. On October 15, 1961 she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Coblentz at the Fairview Mennonite Church. Lena Ruth was a member of the Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Kalona. She worked as a CNA for 29 years and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, and spending time with family. Lena Ruth Passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at her home in Kalona at the age of 89 years.

 

She is survived by; 6 children: Jerry Dean (Phoebe) Coblentz of Tallahassee, FL; Daniel Jay Coblentz of Rice Lake, WI; Dallas Eugene Coblentz, Dena Sue Foster, LaVerda Fay Knepp, Denise Marie (Coblentz) Fanatia all of Kalona; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. previous son-in-laws Keith Foster and Joe Fanatia.  She was preceded in death by husband, parents, a son-in-law Ryan Knepp, and a grandson Paul B. Hanna

 

A celebration of life service will be 10:00 am Monday June 6, 2022 at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Pastors Marv Bender and Floyd Helmuth will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. visitation will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Yoder Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A general Memorial fund has been established.
