Lenore Johnson Obituary
Lenore graduated in 1951 from Monticello High School. She was a 70 year member of Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Creek Township and was the church's financial secretary for many years. She was also treasurer of Silver Creek Township for 40 years. Her lifelong involvement in Silver Creek Township formed many relationships and friendships to last a lifetime. She will be missed by so many!
On July 25, 1953, Lenore Platten and Willard Johnson were united in marriage. The two were partners in farming and in life. They farmed in Silver Creek Township for 60 years.
Lenore enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, needle working, and she was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her time with her family and never missed one of her daughter's events throughout school.
She was one of the most dependable and hardworking people one would meet. She was the true cornerstone of her family and church. She had a backbone of iron with a heart of gold.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard Johnson; parents, Melvin and Virginia Platten; grandson, Matthew Steffens; and great-granddaughter, Lily Hanson.
Lenore is survived by her daughters, Laurie (Wayne) Steffens, Robin (Jay) Brisse, Susan (Richard) Chwalek; granddaughters, Amy (Shane) Hanson, Claire Chwalek, Colleen Chwalek; great-grandson, Nolan Hanson; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, at Faith Lutheran Church, 12449 Clementa Ave NW, Monticello, MN. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior, at Faith Lutheran Church, 12449 Clementa Ave NW, Monticello, MN with Pastor Scott Block officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Casket bearers will be Jon Young, Steven Young, David Young, Thomas Young, Wayne Steffens, Jay Brisse, Richard Chwalek and Shane Hanson.

The first thing I can remember was it was summer and we (Buckingham's) went for a visit to the Johnson counsins house. Lenore gave cousin Susan and I lemonade and cookies so we could have a picnic in the yard at their house under a huge tree. So many memories after that as well. I will never forget her wonderful laugh.
