Lenore Pearl Stoller, a respected educator who rose from classroom teacher to Deputy Superintendent of the Forest Hills School District and spent decades helping guide students, families, and educators, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. She was 84.
Born in Brooklyn on November 21, 1941, to Benjamin and Dora Goldman, Lenore grew up alongside her sister Beverly and quickly distinguished herself as a gifted student. She graduated as valedictorian of Thomas Jefferson High School and went on to attend Brooklyn College, beginning a career in education that would span several decades.
Lenore began her career as a teacher in the New York City public school system and steadily advanced through leadership roles including teacher trainer, supervisor, district administrator of special education, and Director of Pupil Personnel before becoming Deputy Superintendent in the Forest Hills School District. Colleagues, families, and students admired her for her intellect, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping young people succeed.
Her professional accomplishments were matched by her devotion to family. She shared a lifelong love story with her husband, Neil. Their families had known each other for generations, and the couple quite literally met in the crib. As teenagers, Neil rode the subway from the Bronx to Brooklyn to see her. They married in 1962 and built a life centered on family, travel, and tradition.
Together they raised their children, Eric and Beth, in Brooklyn, where family gatherings-particularly holiday meals around the dining room table during Passover and Rosh Hashanah-were among the moments she treasured most.
Following her retirement from the New York City school system, Lenore continued sharing her love of learning as an adjunct professor at Southampton College. She and Neil spent many years dividing their time between New York and
Boynton Beach, Florida, before eventually making Boynton Beach their full-time home.
A lifelong learner, Lenore embraced an active and vibrant retirement. She took courses at Florida Atlantic University, organized numerous book clubs, and brought friends and neighbors together through thoughtful conversations and a shared love of reading. She also volunteered behind the scenes with the Palm Isles Players (PIPS), helping support the community theater productions that brought residents together each season.
In her later years, Lenore lived at The Barclay at Boynton Beach, where she was surrounded by a devoted team of caregivers and nurses who tended to her every need with compassion and kindness. Her husband Neil remained a constant presence, visiting her every day and providing unwavering love and companionship.
Lenore had a remarkable gift for bringing people together through learning, conversation, and community, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Lenore is survived by her loving husband, Neil Stoller; her children, Eric Stoller and Beth Feldman; her son-in-law, Darin Feldman; her daughter-in-law, Maria Stoller; and her grandchildren, Rebecca, Danielle, and Dylan, who brought her immense pride and joy.
Her legacy lives on in the students she mentored, the colleagues she guided, the friendships she nurtured, and the family traditions she carried forward. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
