Leo L. “Sonny” Ciletti returned home to join his parents, Leo J. Ciletti and Katherine Wilczynski, sisters Patricia Ciletti and Katherine Jones Harrison, and beloved dogs, Bruno and Bailey after vascular dementia took its final toll over the last few months.
He lives in the hearts of his children, Dorene Ciletti (James Don), Mary Kay (Paul) Medved, Tara (Ty) Thompson, Renee Ciletti, and Leo (Christina) Ciletti; his grandchildren, Sabrina Filipek Don, Paul Medved (Bri Peach), Nikole Medved (David Viano), Krystal Soukup, Kara Hoffman, Devin (Nikki) Tomei, Damon Chiodo, Alyssa Ciletti, and Laci Ciletti; his great-grandchildren, Sadie, Colton, and Logan Soukup and Vanity, Emma, and Oliver Medved; ex-wife/friend and love of his life, Theresa Stanziano Ciletti; sisters, Karen (Tom) Yanicko and Tina (Bob) Shaw; and his nieces and nephews.
A Vietnam veteran, Sonny was a navy communications specialist and radio operator on the USS Bainbridge. He worked as a millwright with Local 2235 for nearly three decades, and, after retiring, he really enjoyed his time. If he wasn’t at Kings or GetGo having coffee with “the guys” or spending time with his family, he could typically be found thrifting at local flea markets, repairing bikes to give away, tinkering with electronics, listening to Elvis or his favorite crooners Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., or drinking coffee from morning to night while watching “westerns.”
Sonny trusted his medical care only to the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, and his family thanks the VA home care team, VA Oakland Campus staff, and VA Heinz Campus staff for their compassionate care.
All are welcome Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 11 AM until the time of his funeral service at 1 PM, William Slater II Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 412-563-2800. Interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Flowers are welcome but in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, VA Center for Development and Civic Engagement (118V-A), 1010 Delafield Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
