Leo Driessen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2004.
Formerly of Kaukauna, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at a Marinette hospital. Lee was born in Little Chute on May 4, 1935, son of the late George and Rose Hietpas Driessen, and for many years worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper International Paper in Kaukauna. In 1954, Lee left his work for two years to serve his country in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany. After his service he returned to his work at Thilmany. For many years, Lee was a Kaukauna resident, but following Marlene's death last summer, he made his permanent home in Marinette County. While living in Kaukauna, though, he and his wife Marlene nee Meidam also operated the Lunchtime Caf' in downtown Appleton. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family members and many good friends. His best friend and faithful sidekick was his dog Pal. Pal too, will miss Lee. He is survived by his son: Francisco 'Chico' Driessen of Milwaukee and his special friend Erin McCann; a brother: Jim Driessen of Little Chute; three sisters: Isabel Julius Pritzel of Appleton, Ruth Locy of Little Chute, and Carol Skinkis of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law: Theresa Driessen of Kimberly; and by his dear friends Don, Phyllis, and Paul Craney and Jim and Peg Boudreau. Other survivors include his mother-in-law: Leora Meidam of Kaukauna, and Marlene's brothers and sisters: Ron Helen Meidam of Little Chute, Jean Paul Lamers of Little Chute, Nancy Lappen of Little Chute, Rod Meidam of Green Bay, and Joyce Ray Gerow of Kaukauna. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene in 2003, brothers Eugene Mona Driessen, Richard Driessen, and brothers-in-law Chester Skinkis, Dave Locy, and Dan Lappen. Funeral services for Lee will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 13, 2004 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Timothy Albrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. Everyone will long remember Lee for his ability to fix nearly anything and his willingness to help his friends and neighbors in this way. He was happy to help with countless odd jobs around their homes and yards, as well even doing car repair. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. FARGO FUNERAL HOME 400 W.
