How I met and got to know Bud Martynowski
In 2004 I bought my 1942 Plymouth Special Deluxe, my first collector car.
Now that I had the car I told my wife Peggi we should see what car shows are about.
My first attempt at a car show was summer of 2004 in Fairview Park, Oh.
It was held behind a large shopping mall in an area called Bolkin Park.
Being my first show I wasn't sure what to do first. We saw a table where attendees were gathered around. I parked the '42 in the middle of the large parking lot and began walking toward the registration table.
A voice came from a slightly built man who was hurrying toward me, "Is that a 1942 Plymouth?" to which I replied "yes it is". He came up to me and said "there is an open spot next to my car, a '47 Plymouth" would you like to join my wife Louise and me we did.
That was my first encounter with Bud Martynowski, and we have been friends ever since, 21 years.
A side note to this is that a photographer took a picture of our cars and that picture was used in advertising the 2005 Fairview Park car show.
Bud has the picture framed in his garage
