Leo Ruff Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
Leo Peairs Ruff was born on a Sunday morning on March 28, 1926 in Slaughter, LA. His proud parents Julian and Emmie Peairs Ruff rushed him down to church so all could see their beautiful baby boy! This is one of the many stories Leo loved to tell of his life with brothers Frank, Ray and Roy in Slaughter. The Ruff boys all served their country in WW2, with Leo joining the Merchant Marines and becoming a "Gentleman of the Sea". Leo married Dolores Needham in 1948 and they settled in Pasadena, TX. There, he worked for Mobil (38 years) and they raised their 4 children. Family was everything to him - always reaching out with a helping hand to brothers, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Leo loved camping, LSU Tigers, making candy, and visiting his family: Son: Leslie "Buddy" Ruff, wife Margaret, stepson Donny Smith Daughter: Susan Cucci, sons Scott and Todd Daughter: Cindy Stokes, sons "Gator" Chuck, Caleb and daughter Christina Daughter: Joanne Ducharme and husband Chuck, sons Regan and Rory Callahan. Add to this his 13 great grandchildren!! Leo passed on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025 at 11pm. He was 99 years, 7 months and 20 days. Graveside Service will be held Sunday Nov 23 at 2pm at Redwood Cemetery 5182 LA-412, Slaughter, LA . While his stories live on in our hearts, he will be missed by all…. A well-loved man. A much loved father. Our heartfelt thanks goes to Caring Hands for the comfort and respect you showed our father. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be sent to Caring Hands Hospice. 3602 Cypress St. Unit B, West Monroe, LA 71291
