My Uncle Leo was such an important part of my childhood. Some of my happiest memories are from when he would visit and set up his army tent in our backyard. All of us kids would pile in with those big army blankets and sleep outside together. Whenever he returned from overseas, he brought us little shoes from Japan that looked like tiny boats. We were always thrilled and absolutely loved them.
As I grew older, he called me once a month like clockwork, and we´d catch up on whatever was happening in our lives. I´d tease him and say, "Uncle Leo, you know this is going to be an expensive call." He would just laugh and reply, "I´m fine until they take my phone away." We´d both laugh and keep right on talking.
I feel truly blessed to have had Uncle Leo in my life. He will be deeply missed.
Love you, Uncle Leo. I will miss you so much.
