Leoba Delphina Henscheid Mollenkopf passed to her eternal glory, after several years of dementia, at the age of 91 on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at her home in Muenster, Texas. She was born June 29, 1934 in Muenster, Texas to Albert and Dora (Hesse) Henscheid, the seventh of ten children. Her whole life was lived in Muenster. Leoba and her husband George Mollenkopf graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1952. The high school sweethearts were married on May 18, 1953. They were blessed to be married for 70 years, resulting with seven children. The family consists of five daughters, two sons, eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren with three more on the way. Leoba worked many jobs through the years including the Junior Elite Sewing Factory, The Dairy Inn, Fischerhaus, and Bayer's Kolonialwaren. She managed to work and take great care of her family. They wanted for nothing. Being such a loving mother, Leoba instilled in her children a great love of faith and family. Attending Sunday Mass and Holy Days was a must. Leoba was a faithful attendee of Our Lady of Perpetual Help novenas. In later years when unable to attend, George and Leoba listened on the TV. During the summer she made sure the children went to the Wednesday morning Mass. It seemed a lot of the Henscheid cousins were there. Our home was the "Neighborhood Home." Everyone gathered there to play, making sure they raided the kitchen pantry, checking for Leoba's homemade cinnamon rolls. Leoba's cheerful smile welcomed everyone and she always made sure they had plenty to eat. Homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, cream puffs, donuts, and pie were just the tip of the iceberg. Leoba definitely excelled at cooking. Sewing was another thing Leoba was known for, she was always sewing something for her children and grandchildren including but not limited to prom dresses, outfits for the school play and especially Christmas outfits. Sometimes the children would help trim the patterns. Also Leoba was quite the crocheter. Blankets, hats, scarves, ponchos, and baby blankets for grandchildren were what she did best. Leoba will always be known as a loving mother with a friendly smile. Faith, family, food and fun were a special combination she used to raise her family. Her memory will always live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they use her recipes, share their stories about her, and continue to grow in the faith she modeled for them. Leoba is survived by daughters Cheryl and LeAnn Mollenkopf, Tina (Ronnie) Weinzapfel all of Muenster, TX; Vicki Scott of Shady Shores, TX; Jill Swirczynski of Prosper, TX; and sons Kirk Mollenkopf (Sharon) of Round Rock, TX and Hal (Cindy) Mollenkopf of Weatherford, TX. Grandchildren Amanda(Justin) Klement; Christina (Scott) Ward; Tara (Ray) Zielinski; Carson (Kim) Penepacker; Hillary (Brandon) McEarchern; Kit (Zoey) Mollenkopf; Michael (Lauren) Weinzapfel; Elizabeth (Aaron) Davis; Kierstin Davis; and Kessie Mollenkopf. Great-Grandchildren Olivia Ward, Vivian Klement, Logan and Reed McEarchern, Max and Rhett Zielinski, Ayden Davis, Grayson Mollenkopf, Elijah Penepacker, Mia and Avery Weinzapfel, Cecilia Mollenkopf-Brooks, and more great-grandchildren will be arriving in September, January and March. Leoba is also survived by two sisters Regina (Henry) Pels of Muenster, TX and Alma (Ronnie) Herr of Gainesville, TX. Also brother-in-law Howard (Ruthie) Mollenkopf of Vancouver, WA and sister-in-law Carol (Ervin) Henscheid of Muenster, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews. Leoba was preceded in death by her husband George Mollenkopf, parents Albert and Dora (Hesse) Henscheid, parents-in-law George and Elizabeth (Steinberger) Mollenkopf, sons-in-law Joe Scott and Dale (Bubba) Swirczynski, grandson Zachary Swirczynski, brothers-in-law James (Bernice) Mollenkopf and Henry (Curly) Pels, sisters and brothers Clara (Ed) Endres, Rosalie and Carl (Boobie) Schilling, Dolores (Herbie) Miller, Ervin (Red) Henscheid and Virgil (Joaline) Henscheid. Vigil and rosary will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 6:00pm and led by Leoba's nephew Deacon Gary Endres. Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Friday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. Leoba's cremains will be buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. A meal will be served by the Catholic Daughters of America at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Muenster, TX.
