Leon Arnoldi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 28, 2009.
LEON ROBERT ARNOLDI was born April 7, 1938 in Kemmerer, Wyoming, the son of the late Leo Arnoldi and Elsie (Ikola) Arnoldi. Leon attended Forest Grove schools from sixth grade through his junior year of high school. He then graduated from Laramie High School in Laramie, Wyoming in 1956. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Stafford on September 1, 1957 in Forest Grove, Oregon. Following their wedding they resided in Corvallis, Oregon until Leon's graduation from OSU with a mechanical engineering degree in 1960. They moved to their present home in Forest Grove, Oregon, in December 1967. Leon worked in his field for many years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Old Scotch Church, the Forest Grove Elks Lodge, and the Oregon Miniature Aircraft Squadron. Among his special interests he enjoyed clam digging and camping, hunting, flying kites, oil painting, training field trial dogs, crafting model airplanes, reading action and western novels, playing the harmonica, golfing, boating, gardening and canning, and sausage-making with the boys from Verboort. Most especially he enjoyed spending time with his family. Leon was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Arnoldi, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his three daughters and their spouses; Suzie and Neil Strachan of Hillsboro, Debi and Roger Miller of Vancouver, Washington; and Angie and Barry Berdahl of North Plains, Oregon; his brother, Paul of Corvallis, Montana; his mother-in-law, Wilma Stafford and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Carol Stafford of Forest Grove, Oregon. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and their spouses: Adam (Chez) Strachan of Aloha, Oregon; Samantha (Eric) Duke of Moses Lake, Washington; Grant and Melissa Miller of Vancouver, Washington; Luke, Seth and Hannah Berdahl of Hillsboro, Oregon; a great-granddaughter, Emma Strachan; nephews, Eric and Joshua Stafford, and niece, Amalia Bernal. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to Vancouver Christian High School, 8205 NE 4th Plain Blvd, Vancouver, Washington 98662 in his memory.
