Leon Haig Assadourian

Jackie and I were very saddened to learn about Leon´s passing.
I first met Leon in 1967 during our graduate studies in Electrophysics at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute´s Farmingdale campus. Along with another classmate, Jack Goldberg, we shared a dorm and quickly became good friends. The coursework was rigorous, challenging and intense, yet we managed to get into mischief and enjoy many good times together. During those years, the three of us met the women who would become our wives- Leon met Beth at a skating rink. He often talked about her, and it was clear how much he loved her.
After graduation and marriage, Beth and Leon joined us for an enjoyable dinner at our new apartment. Though our careers eventually led us in different directions, making visits more challenging, we stayed connected through holiday letters. Leon always had an optimistic and upbeat outlook on life even as he dealt with family challenges. It was clear in all his letters that his deep devotion to God and his great love for Beth and his family gave him his strength to deal with any challenges he faced.
Although we had not seen Leon in many years, we know his kindness, and warmth, left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and his unwavering support and love was a source of comfort during both good times and bad times for his family.
We are grateful for his friendship, and we know with certainty that Leon has made the world better for anyone who knew him.
Rest in peace, old friend.
We wish Leon´s family peace and good health for 2026.
