Leon Connelly Sr.

Leon Connelly, Sr. 86, of San Diego, CA. transitioned from labor to reward on February 9th , 2022. Born in Burke County, NC. February 5th , 1936 to the late Robeaner Suddreth Connelly and Ernest Connelly, Sr. He was a sixth-generation descendant of Susan Connelly on the Ann Connelly Family Branch. Maternal Grandparents were Lark and Mary Berry Suddreth, and Paternal Grandparents Cora Connelly and James Bristol. He was a Vietnam veteran retiring after serving 23 years from the United States Navy. He then worked for the San Diego Sheriff Depart retiring after 13 years of service. After leaving the Sheriff Department he opened up his own business called Mr. Leon's Window Cleaning Service that he sold in 2018. Leon was a faithful member of New Creation Non-Denominational Church where he served as a financial steward and usher. In addition to his parents and wife, Regina M. Connelly, Leon was preceded in death by brothers Ernest Connelly Jr., Harold D. Connelly, and Sisters Ann Connelly Conley, and Barbara Jane Connelly. His fondest memories will be cherished by his sons Michael L. Connelly of San Diego, CA., and Leon Muhammad, his wife Louisa Muhammad and his grandchildren Raja, Salahal Din, Qiyamah and Abu Hamza Muhammad of Flossmoor, IL., Stepson Rudy Madranero of Las Vegas, NV., sisters Mrs. Texie Louise Tucker, Valdese, NC., Mrs. Margaret C. Carson of Connelly Springs, NC., Sister-in-laws Mrs. Helen Connelly of Conover, NC., Mrs. Rhonda Connelly of Drexel, NC., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Homecoming services will be held Saturday, March 5th , 2022 at Mt. Zion Baptist with visitation at 10:00am and the Funeral at 11:00am. Interment will be held at the Church cemetery.
