Leon Edwin Ekblad

Leon Edwin Ekblad Age 82, of Sarona, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his home. Leon was born on February 25, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to LeRoy and Clara (Lakken) Ekblad. At 2 years of age his family moved to Rice Lake, WI to operate the family dairy farm. Leon was a master carpenter that enjoyed his job - whether it was a small remodel job or building a million dollar home. He was married to Cindy Drost on October 26, 1990 in Washburn County, WI. After he retired he could be found in his shop building out houses or storage buildings. Leon just finished what was to be his last out house on the day he passed away. Nobody was a stranger to Leon. He would talk to anybody - whether waiting in line at the grocery store or waiting in the waiting room for his Dr. appointments. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Ekblad; 3 sons, Barry Pockrandt, Ronald (Robin) Ekblad and Curt (Dana) Rowe; 2 daughters, Nancy (Mark) Drost and Kristi (Eric) Anderson; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother-in-law, Bill Kubesh; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; LeRoy and Clara Ekblad; a son, Dean Ekblad; 3 brothers, Bud, Orland and Ronnie Ekblad; and a sister, Carol Kubesh. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 1-6PM at the V&M Bar in Rice Lake, WI. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the funeral arrangements.
