Leon Victor Evans, Jr.
February 14, 1933 – July 8, 2025

Leon Victor Evans, Jr, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in Mission Viejo, California. Born on February 14, 1933, in Los Angeles CA, Leon lived a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and quiet, Christlike leadership.

Growing up in Los Angeles, Leon often reminisced about the simple joys of childhood-chasing after the ice truck and gathering with friends to watch The Ed Sullivan Show through store windows. He later joked that one of the perks of dating Diane, whom he met in junior high, was that her family had a television.

Leon and Diane's bond deepened in high school, and he quickly recognized the special light Diane carried, a light he later attributed to her faith and upbringing in a Christ centered home. After high school, he accepted a football scholarship to UCLA so he could stay close to her. He then went on and finished his football career and graduated from Pepperdine. They married on June 20, 1953, and within a few years had 4 kids under the age of 2½. They moved their young family to Ojai, California, where Leon started his career with Shell Oil.

Ojai became a turning point in Leon's spiritual journey. Through the love of church members and missionaries, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and embraced the gospel that meant so much to Diane. He found purpose in faith, friendship, and fatherhood.

A career move eventually led the family to Mission Viejo, where they built a lasting home and a legacy of love. Leon served faithfully in many church callings and became a beloved leader. He had a gift for making others feel seen and valued, and his days were always structured with purpose, often guided by his handwritten to-do lists.

He found joy in simple pleasures, family trips, time in nature, travel, painting, collector of antiques and quiet moments with his sweetheart. He once said, "If I can leave you with any words of advice, it would be to strengthen and nourish your family ties, be there for one another, and always try to put each other before yourselves." For Leon, family was not only a joy, but eternal.

Leon was proceed in death by his sweet wife Diane, and is survived by his five children, 31 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, faith, and quiet service continues through each of them.

A memorial service will be held on:
Saturday, July 19th @ 11:00 AM at
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
27976 Marguerite Parkway
