Leon Walter Hocker

Leon Walter Hocker, age 86 of Bastrop, passed away on December 18, 2025. Leon was born on September 14,1939, in Bynum, Texas to Hilda (Groppe) and Walter Hocker.

Leon graduated from Bynum High School in 1957. After graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years and received an honorable discharge. He worked at General Tire early in his life and later at Lochridge-Priest, Inc. in Waco, Texas as a draftsman, where he eventually retired.

Leon loved to fish, cook, and was a lifelong St.Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed gardening after spending his youth on the family farm. He was also a member of Cogdell United Methodist Church of Waco and later, Bastrop United Methodist Church.

Leon is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Jean Hocker, parents; Walter and Hilda Hocker, brother and sister-in-law; Marshall and Judy Hocker, and nephew; Justin Hocker.

Survivors include his sons, Kurt Hocker, Jacob Fritz Hocker and wife Terri Hocker, grandchild Haley Hocker; daughter, Hillary Lugo and husband Joe Lugo, grandchildren, Junior Castaneda and Tori Castaneda; his sister, Avalon Kelm and her husband Dan Kelm; His brother, David Hocker and his wife Donna Hocker; many nieces, nephews, and close family friends.

Private services will be held at a later date.
