Leon Sams

Leon Sams, born on March 7, 1963, in Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 62.

Leon served his country with dedication and honor during his time in the United States Navy, from which he retired after a distinguished 21-year career. His commitment to service and his unwavering sense of duty were hallmarks of his life, reflecting a deep-seated love for his country and those he served alongside.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rebecca Sams, and his cherished sisters, Debora Sams and Eileen Sams. Leon is survived by his devoted brothers, Gary Sams and Brian Sams, who will remember him as a steadfast brother and trusted friend.

In accordance with his wishes, Leon will be privately laid to rest with honors at Albert G. Horton Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. His legacy of service and loyalty will be remembered by all who knew him.
