Early in his career he performed orchestra club dates with performers such as Nat King Cole, Liberace, Johnny Mathis, Paul Anka, and Sammy Davis Jr.cIt was during his time at Manhattan School of Music where he met his wife, and love of his life, Lesia. They married on July 12, 1969 and settled on Long Island where Leon became a public school music educator. He taught string lessons first in Rockville Centre Schools followed by Freeport Public Schools for over 35 years. Leon loved teaching and continued, not retiring, until 70 years of age.
