Leon Albert Yates

Leon Albert Yates, 78, of Eagle Bend, MN, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Leon was born on March 15, 1947, in Bertha, Minnesota, to Albert and Dorothy (Lundstrom) Yates. After graduating from high school, Leon proudly served in the National Guard. He worked for many years in construction, a career he pursued with dedication and strength. After suffering a serious back injury, Leon continued his working life with the United States Postal Service, where he served his community faithfully.

Leon found his greatest joy in his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved spending time fishing with them and simply enjoying their company, whether outdoors or relaxing together in front of the TV. His presence was a steady source of love, wisdom, and quiet humor.

Leon is survived by his children, Jennifer (James) Carver and Billie, also known as Leon’s BurBur,(Ron) Yates; his beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Brody, Kaitlyn, Rorie also known as Grandpa’s Pixie, Layla, Harlie, and Reon; his daughter-in-law, Karma; and his siblings, Larry, Bev, and Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dorothy Yates, and his sister, Bobbi.

A private service will be held by the family at a later date. Leon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
