It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Barnes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who left us on August 13, 2025. Leonard was born on August 31, 1956, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Tom and Ida (Mays) Barnes, who have both preceded him in death.
Leonard dedicated many years of his life to Local Favorites LLC, where he most recently served as Executive General Manager. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for life and the joy he brought to those around him. Known for his infectious laughter and warm spirit, Leonard had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and appreciated.
Outside of his professional life, Leonard found joy in cooking, playing fantasy football, and cherishing moments with his old friends. However, his greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Rowanna Barnes, and a loving father to his children: Vincent Castille, Monique Session, Jessika Dewar, Jasmine Barnes, and Victoria Barnes. Leonard's grandchildren—Dylan Castille, Aiyanna Castille, Isaiah Maduka, Levi Barnes, Robert Burns II, Amanda Burns, and Ijeiha Burns—were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Leonard is also survived by his sisters, Lurlene Biddle, Shirley Wade, and Gloria Smith, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He leaves behind a host of friends who will miss his laughter, kindness, and unwavering support.
As we remember Leonard, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Services will be held to honor his life and legacy on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 with visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Immediately following with a funeral service at 11:00 am at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell, Texas. He will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens located in Terrell, Texas.
