I met Dr. Berlin back when I was a reporter for the Chicago Tribune in the 1980s, writing about health care. We spoke from time to time then and even after I left and continued writing about what was happening. I so enjoyed our interactions: a wonderful Jewish spirit, humor and caring. May his memory be for a blessing.

To the Berlins:

Sorry to hear about Dr. Berlin. Our sympathy and condolences. I can remember some weekends when my late father Dr. Milton Goldberg made rounds on weekends @ SVCH and Stopped in X Ray to see: Dr. Berlin and talk about Hospital Politics.

Also the few times when I had X rays and Dr Berlin was not present Dr. Miller, Dr. Lobo, Dr. Ebstein. I had a bone anomaly on my ankle when I sprained it badly on The Ohio State University campus in the early 1990s and remember my father showing that X ray to your dad.
He confirmed what the Campus Radiologist said.

Also, When SVCH became affiliated with or taken over by RUSH in the 1980s and the HMO boom. Also pool side in the 1970s at our home. The blue plastic boats. Surely some 8mm or Super 8mm or 35mm photography is in both our old respective collections somewhere.

Dr Berlin made me love the radiology field ; he was the 1st radiologist I worked for at the start of my career. He guided me in my love for Radiology ; from 1975-1978 & what I learned from him thru the years til my retirement 2024!
RIP Dr B: you were & are a special man to all your students, staff, & especially your family . You will forever be remembered & missed!
