Leonard Daake Obituary
Leonard was born March 28, 1959 in Kearney to Harold and Margaret (Zimmer) Daake. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1977.
Leonard married Yolanda Debban in 1978, and together they made their home north of Merna where Leonard began his farming career. Together they had two children. In 2000, Yolanda lost her own fight with cancer. In 2010, Leonard married Denise Clark.
He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna and a member of the local Farmer's co-op board. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spending time at his cabin, being out in the hills checking steers, farming, and visiting with and helping his friends and neighbors.
Leonard is survived by his wife Denise; children Sadie (Canton) Cole and Ross (Shantel) Daake; step-daughters Jessica (Stephen) Mittelstaedt, Mattie (Marty) Demoret and Deena (Dusty) Nipper; grandchildren Martha, Abram, Arthur, River, Carver, Peyton, Brooklyn, Norah, Leighton, Elias, Eden, Luca, Caylee, Atley, Cainan and Paxton; mothers-in-law Eileen Debban and Rose Hirsch; sisters Bernadine Dauel, Marie (Mel) Menke and Carol (Roger) Buoy; brother Greg (Jan) Daake; sisters-in-law Betty Daake, Deb Gribble and Kendra (David) Weibe; and brothers-in-law Darrell (Jan) Hirsch and Paul (Judy) Debban.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yolanda; parents Harold and Margaret; fathers-in-law Harold Debban and Wayne Hirsch; brother Harold (Cork) Daake; and brother-in-law Ed Dauel.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Berean Bible Church in Broken Bow. Burial will follow in the Merna Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family greeting 5-7 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna.
