Leonard Eldon Potts was born August 9, 1943, to Harvey Allen and Charlotte Jane (Morris) Holt in Ponca City, OK. He was adopted by Ira V. Potts. He passed away March 14, 2026, at the home of Tyson and Tammy Rutledge in Bonne Terre after a long battle with MDS.
Eldon joined the Army in July 1964 and served 3 years with the 73rd Signal Battalion, 267th Signal Company in Pirmasens, Germany at the rank of E5. He then served in the Army Reserves until July 1970. Eldon returned home and found his love for truck driving. He drove cross-country 45 years until he retired.
Eldon married Thelma Jean Gimpel and to this union, Tammy Elaine was born. He later married Janice Elaine McGill.
Eldon is preceded in death by Janice and Jeanie; parents, Ira and Charlotte Pott; sister, Doris Crisp and great-granddaughter, Stormy Jean Daiker.
Eldon is survived by his daughter, Tammy Rutledge (Tyson); grandchildren, Carmen Potts and Koda McCall; great-grandchildren, Zoey Barton, Charlie Raymond III, Wesley, Presley and Paisley Daiker.
The family would like to thank Breeze Hospice for the comfort provided to Eldon during his final days, especially his nurse, Kim.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge.
