Mr. Leonard Charles Harper, affectionately known as L.C. to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 11, 1933, to the late George T. and Martha Harper. L.C. lived a life marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a playful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.

L.C. was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 52 years, Peggy Speer Harper, with whom he shared a profound and enduring love. He was also predeceased by his siblings Lewis Harper, Rosser Harper, Florence Moon, Lottie Sachse, Thomas Harper, and George D. Harper. L.C.'s legacy continues through his loving children, Rhonda Tarvin, Lisa Childress (married to Marty), Vicki Freeman, and Susan Lefevre, who will forever cherish the lessons and laughter he provided. His spirit will also live on in the hearts of his adoring grandchildren, Richard Leonard Vaughn, Katie Murphy, Alex Childress, Sharon Lefevre, and Kayla Lefevre, as well as his treasured great-grandchildren, Bridget Koritko, Jacob B. Vaughn, and Cate Murphy. L.C. is survived by his former wife, Edna Harper, with whom he maintained a cherished friendship, along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

L.C.'s career as a skilled mechanic at Hercules spanned many years, where he was fondly known by the nickname "Dusty" for his slow pace. He never "made dust while walking." A man of faith, L.C. was a devoted member of The Church Covington, where he found solace and community. L.C. was known for his good sense of humor, which he shared generously with his friends, often brightening their days with a well-timed joke or an amusing story.

A Funeral Service for L.C. will be at 2 o'clock on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Sorrells officiating. Entombment will be at New Covington Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
