LEONARD JOHN HILD
1941 – 2023
Leonard John Hild age 81 of
Louisville, NE peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Parsons House on Eagle Run in
Omaha, NE.
He was born on November 18, 1941, to John L. Hild and Elsie M. (Dehning) Hild in
Omaha, NE. He grew up on the family farm where his daughter now resides. Leonard first attended country school and later graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1959. Leonard as a youth was extremely active in 4-H from showing cattle, sheep, and hogs to being the club leader. He won numerous awards with his animals at the county and state fairs. At the age of 18, Leonard attended the National 4-H conference in
Washington, DC, where he received an award from President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
After high school he went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a year studying agriculture and was a member of the AGR fraternity. He later joined the Air National Guard and would eventually marry the love of his life Judith "Judy" Ann Olsen on November 26, 1961. During their almost 62 years of marriage, he would always say the best "mistake" of his life was knocking on the wrong apartment door where Judy lived. Together they spent life on the farm where they raised their two kids Steven Hild and Marcia (Hild) Sutton along with numerous livestock and crops.
Throughout his life Leonard enjoyed many hobbies including slow pitch softball, attending/watching countless Husker sporting events, and bowling where he later won a bronze medal at the National Senior bowling tournament in
Reno, NV. He enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in all their sporting events and activities. They meant the world to him. He loved being outside and vacationing with his family, especially to Lake Tahoe, CA, where he hiked numerous times. There was never a road trip spent without Leonard insisting Neil Diamond be played on the radio.
Leonard was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in
