Leonard R. "Rainbow" Koch, 99, of New Columbia passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on March 17, 2025.
He was born on February 10, 1926 in New Columbia, one of seven children of the late Rhoades J. and Erma (Showers) Koch.
He was married for over 65 years to the former Mary L. Hulsizer, who preceded him in death in 2013.
Leonard served in the US Navy during WWII arriving in Pearl Harbor after the attack and witnessed the devastation. He retired from H. Warshow & Sons in 1988 after 35 years of service.
After retirement he enjoyed outdoor picnics and county fairs with family and friends. He also liked his weekend getaways to a camp in Clinton County with his old-time friend Bill.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law Donald and Rebecca Koch, Leonard E. and Kimberly Koch, David and Denise Koch, and Kevin and Karissa Koch, a daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Gary Young, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Keeping with his wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Leonard's name may be made to the White Deer Township Volunteer Fire Company 366 Cemetery Street, New Columbia, PA 17856, where he was a life-time member.
