Leonard Looper

Leonard Lee Looper, age 81, of Garden City, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born December 4, 1932, in Tarkio, Missouri, to Leonard Ernest and Blanche Joy (Harris) Looper. He married Shirley Lee Thore and she survives. Leonard was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Columbia, TN. He loved his family and enjoyed cars, gardening and feeding the birds. In addition to his loving wife, of 61 years, Shirley; he is survived by his children, Greg (Gloria) Looper of Lawrenceburg, TN, Trina Johnson (Dennis Dynes) of Garden City, MI, and Jason (Connie) Looper of Adrian; brother, Frank (Charlotte) Thompson of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Hazel Hicks of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Leta Barr of Taylor, MI; seven grandchildren, Kelly Love, Tracy Howard, Brad Looper, Leonard Looper, Coty Johnson, Kelsey Sisty and Austin Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Howard, Bradley Looper, Jr., Aeyden Gee and Logan Sisty. He was preceded in death by a son, Perry Looper; brother, Larry Looper; and sister, Lois Morse. Funeral services for Leonard will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Pastor John Alred officiating. Interment will be in Lenawee County Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
