Leonard "Leo" Smith, 65, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on March 1, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark, Ohio.

He was born on August 11, 1960, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Elvin Leonard Smith Sr. and Lula (Orr) Smith. Leo worked as a printing press operator on 6th Street and at Longaberger Basket Co. for over 15 years. He later worked as a General Contractor, doing what he loved. He enjoyed motorcycles, working on engines, and tinkering. Above all, he loved traveling and visiting with his friends and family.

Leo is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa Smith-Wilt; 2 sisters: Linda (Craig) Sand and Lula Smith; nephew, Seth (Sarah) Yates; great nephews, Jack and Aiden Yates; many cousins and friends; faithful and loving dog, Samson; and many grand puppies.

In addition to his parents, Leo is preceded in death by his brothers, Elvin "Buster" Smith Jr. and Timothy Joseph Smith; and infant sister, Bessie Smith.

Calling hours will be held on Friday March 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating.

A dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning following services.
