Leonard Wesley “Wes” Soots, 56, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, he was born on February 7, 1968 to the late Leonard Westley Soots, Sr. and Mary Lou Whitaker Soots who survives. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Jo Thomas “Jodie” Soots of the home.
Wes volunteered with Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department and North Central Alamance Volunteer Fire Department for over 16 years. He served as the training officer, medical responder and was a member of the IAAI (International Association of Arson Investigators). He was also the owner of Soots Fence and Yard Service. Any time spent away from the fire department, Wes could be found at the golf course or spending time with his Dalmatian companions, “Fireball” and “Cooper”. He was a loving husband, father, son and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Jodie; sons, Wesley Adam Soots (Jamie), Corey Eathon Soots and his mother, Mary Soots. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Westley Soots, Sr.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Doug Durham with the burial to follow at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Central Alamance Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, 595 Altamahaw Union Ridge Rd, Burlington, NC 27217.
