Leonard Louie Vogel was born August 26, 1929, on a farm near Stanton, Nebraska. Leonard started his farming career at the age of 12 when he started working for the neighbors with their crops and livestock.
Leonard met the love of his life, Lois Phillips, in 1949. He and Lois were united in marriage on February 26, 1950, and celebrated 75 years of marriage with their family in February 2025. To this union four children were born.
As a farmer, Leonard didn't have much down time, but he always made time for his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading Nebraska Land Magazine, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and most of all playing games with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 75 years, Lois Vogel; children, Terry Vogel, Rick (Carla) Vogel, and LaLene Bates all of Stanton;, grandchildren, Jeff Bates, Kathy Bates (Casey), Jason (Stephanie) Vogel, Traci (Shawn) Jensen, Anthony (Erin) Vogel, Angie (Jeremy) Ripley, Jesse (Melissa) Vogel, Shaun (Aubrey) Vogel, and Kylene (Trever) Knettel; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his infant son, Larry Vogel; parents, Louie and Freida Vogel; sister, Dorothy Vogel; and sister and brother-in-law, Irene Johnson and Derold Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
