Leoncio Trejo

1961 - 2026

Leoncio Trejo, 64, of Driggs, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his home from natural causes in January 2026.

Leoncio was born on August 1, 1961, in Tenguedho, Hidalgo, Mexico, to Gregorio Trejo and Anatalia Lora. He was born and raised in Tenguedho, where he attended local schools and completed some college before beginning his life's journey to the United States at the age of 18.

While living in Nebraska, Leoncio met Della Ybarra. Together they formed a family and welcomed five children. After moving several times, they eventually made their home in Driggs, Idaho, where they raised their family and created lasting roots.

Leoncio found his calling working as a logger, a profession he deeply loved. He enjoyed the woods, nature, animals, and especially his dogs. When logging work slowed later in life, Leoncio continued working with the land by retiring into landscaping, creating beautiful yards throughout Teton Valley and Jackson, Wyoming.

A devoted Catholic, Leoncio made it a tradition during family trips to Mexico to stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City to pay respect to God and the Virgin Mary. He also attended Mass in Jackson, Wyoming, when able.

Leoncio was a quiet and private man who cherished solitude and time spent in nature. Though reserved, those who truly knew him saw his humorous side and kind heart. He was intelligent, gentle, and thoughtful. Above all, he treasured time with his children, grandchildren, and siblings.

He is survived by his five children: Miguel Trejo of Temecula, California; Leo Trejo of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Renato Trejo of Las Vegas, Nevada; Natalie Trejo of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Pedro Trejo of Idaho Falls, Idaho; as well as his beloved grandchildren.

Leoncio was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Trejo and Anatalia Lora Trejo, and by the mother of his children, Della Ybarra.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m, Friday 13, 2026 at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with a Catholic minister officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Ammon Cemetery.

Personal Tribute

Leoncio lived a simple life rooted in faith, family, and nature. His heart belonged to the mountains and the quiet places of the earth. Though soft-spoken, his presence brought peace, and his love was steady and true. He will be remembered for his integrity, his humor and the deep love he carried for his children and grandchildren. His legacy lives on in them.
