I met Lee at the old YMCA gym in 2011.
The day before he had kindly helped my wife (a total stranger) jumpstart her little honda when the battery died. The next day I introduced myself to thank him and we became immediate friends. We came from radically different walks of life and yet we agreed on everything...education, politics, religion, and family values. Every time we met at the gym we would have a gab fest for at least 20 minutes dissecting current events locally and nationally. Lee was extremely well read and a news junkie. We joined the democratic coalition together and even went to weight watchers together. People always joked about how close we seemed even though we looked so different. I remember so many times being transfixed by Lee's childhood stories of how he grew up and the obstacles he overcame. He educated me about the workings of Savannah and the South. We had moved down here from the North and had no real concept of the deep-seated cultural differences prior.
Lee had a smile and enthusiasm for everybody he met, even those that were unkind. He was the ultimate good samaritan. I looked up to him and loved him. I will miss him greatly, but treasure the memories of the times I had with him and our little adventures...and there were plenty.

I met Leotis many years ago while working as a pharmacist. He was always very nice and jolly. So sorry to hear of his passing. Know he will me missed by his family. He was so proud of his kids that became pharmacists. He would talk so fondly of them when I saw him. You have my deepest sympathies.
