Obituary published on Legacy.com by Malone Funeral Home on Dec. 23, 2025.
Leroy "Lee" N. Clausen, age 77, of St. Charles, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Lee was born on May 31, 1948, in Chicago IL, the son of Norman and Amelia (Gadwill) Clausen.

Lee dedicated his life to his family and a 34 year teaching career at Lincoln Elementary School in Elmhurst, IL. Lee shared his love of the outdoors and science with his students through many special programs including Outdoor Ed, Starlab and building and maintaining the prairie garden. He was passionate about teaching outside of the classroom and provided amazing opportunities for his students through the Silverado Project where he was recognized for collaboration between education and business.

Lee's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He provided a beautiful childhood for his children through many adventures like camping, fishing and trips to Galena. He also enjoyed all the time he spent with his grandchildren supporting them and their many interests.

His gentle nature, patience and humor made him an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and teacher. Lee's dedication to his family built a lasting legacy of love and tradition that will live with his family forever.

Lee is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary (O'Connor); children Christopher (Rachel) of Pingree Grove, Beth of St. Charles, Emily of Batavia, Sara (Jeff) Kramer of Pingree Grove and Amy of Aurora; grandchildren Josiah, Michael, Isaiah, Aidan, Mariana, Amelia, Jaden, Matthew, Kaitlyn and Avery; siblings Lorraine Gordon of Maryland, Edward of Elgin, many dear nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.

Dear Mary,
I am so sorry to hear about Lee´s passing. Your family has always been special for mine because of the wonderful times Teddy got to share with yours. Thank you for the wonderful memories your family gave our son.
I know Lee was the foundation of the love you all shared with Teddy. He was a wonderful teacher and father and will be missed daily by all who knew him.
Sincerely, The Kuyper Family

I´m so sorry to hear about the passing of my 5th grade teacher Mr.Clausen. I will never forget his gentle and fun manor. For example, having us write Gee, I´m a Tree on our Geometry notebooks. My mom was lucky to become close friends with Lee and is probably lighting up at getting to see him again in the stars. They were both such shining lights in our lives and will continue to light the way for us.
Blessings to all of his dear family,
Kathy Haller-McNeil
