Leroy Gerchman
In Loving Memory of Leroy Gerchman
Leroy Gerchman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted science teacher, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. He was 85 years old.
Born in Eveleth, Minn., on November 23, 1939, Leroy was a man of boundless energy and passion for both education and outdoor adventures. A dedicated science teacher in the Virginia School District for over 30 years, he inspired countless students with his curiosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning. His legacy as an educator is one of nurturing young minds to explore and question the world around them.
Beyond the classroom, Leroy was a true adventurer at heart. He embraced life with a runner's stride, a biker's thrill, an inline skater's glide, and a cross-country skier's endurance. No trail was too daunting for him, and he reveled in the beauty of the great outdoors.
Leroy lovingly cared for his wife, Peggy, demonstrating unwavering devotion and support through all of life's highs and lows providing her with dedicated health and personal care. His dedication to her was a testament to the love and commitment they shared.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was sharing stories, playing games, or exploring nature together, he cherished every moment with them, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever.
Leroy is survived by his children, Lori Anger, Heidi (Kevin) Conto, and Beth (Clint) Doroff; as well as his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Charles (Janice) Gerchman and Robert (Donna) Gerchman; as well as other close relatives. His kindness, love, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at The Rosemount Senior Living at Steeple Center for their exceptional care and support during Leroy's stay.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
