LeRoy Otto Jackson (Roy), 80, of Spanish Fork, returned to his heavenly home and to the love of his life on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. He was born February 11th, 1944, in Price, Utah, to Ferris Wheeler Jackson and Ella Johanna Jensen. He lived the first few years of his life living in Soldier Summit, UT when it was a mining community supporting the war effort. From there his family relocated to Springville, UT, where he attended school and lived the stereotypical life of a kid in the 50’s. He enjoyed ski-hitching behind unsuspecting vehicles, making and racing soap box derby cars, playing and fishing in Hobble Creek, attending Saturday matinees, and making a little mischief. Roy embodied the 1950s “Greaser.”

Roy remained in Springville until he joined the United States Navy on November 13th, 1962, along with David Allman who would become his lifelong best friend. He served on the USS Ranger aircraft carrier in the Pacific, including time in the Vietnam Theater. He served just over three years of active duty before returning home. Roy would later finish his military service as a heavy equipment operator, along-side David, in the Utah Army National Guard. He spent the next several years working with his older brother hanging drywall in Utah and California.

A few years after returning home, Roy hit the jackpot when a beautify bartender caught his eye. They would later recall that they both assumed the other one was rich. Her parents owned the bar, and he was driving an expensive car. They were both wrong, but they quickly fell in love. They were married in King County Washington on the 28th of July 1969. The bond Roy and Fran shared was undeniable. They lived for one another, making the past 10 years since her passing very difficult for Roy. His greatest calling in life was being a dad, including to many more than his own children, and to his grandchildren. He was a great example of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be, leaving a significant hole in the hearts of many with his passing.

Roy made his career in the transportation industry, driving truck for NAPA Auto Parts. He enjoyed driving but eventually took a promotion where he was responsible for all of NAPA shipping in the western region. His passion was the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and sitting around a campfire telling stories that were mostly true.

Roy is survived by his children Gordy Snow (Kristi), Blake Jackson (Kimberly), Anne Herbert, and Bret Jackson (Kami), 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and sister Glenna. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Leo and Stanley, and sister Carla. What a joyous reunion they are having.

A viewing will take place at the Wheeler Mortuary 211 East 200 South in Springville Utah on Wednesday October 9th from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites.
