I can´t recall one specific memory with Leroy-there were simply too many good times to choose from. We spent so much time together, talking about everything under the sun. He was always jovial, always full of laughter. He had a way of making even an ordinary workday something to look forward to.
One thing I know for certain: Leroy was a good man. I didn´t have the greatest upbringing, and if it were possible to choose your parents, I would have wanted a father like Leroy. He was decent, kind, funny, and lovable. He served his country with honor, and he was a devoted father.
In hard times, I try to think of comforting words, and this comes to mind:
"What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." - Helen Keller
A father´s love leaves a light that can never fade. The measure of a man´s life is not in its longevity, but in the love he leaves behind. Leroy was loved, and he loved well. His wife and his children were never far from his thoughts, and he always spoke of them with such fondness.
I would like anyone reading this to know: my life is better for having known him.
