There are many things in life we cannot understand, but we must trust God at all times. "We trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is the rock eternal." Isaiah 26:4
Mr. Leroy Quick, Jr., affectionately known as "Lee," was born on March 1, 1951, in Bennettsville, SC. He was the third of eleven children born to the late Leroy Quick, Sr. and Addie Mae Garner Quick. Lee departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was reared in a Christian home and was a member of St. James Holiness Church in Bennettsville, SC.
Lee was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County and graduated from Eastside High School in 1969. He joined the U S Air Force upon graduation and retired after 22 years of meritorious services as a Master Sergeant. During his time in the service, Lee served in Korea and deployed to Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. He began a second career with Sumter School District as an accredited Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technician. He finally retired from work after twenty years of service from the school district.
Lee was united in marriage to Sandra L. Alston on March 29, 1976, and was blessed with two daughters, Dawna and Regina. Family was a priority in Lee's life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, usually showering his family with gifts without the need for a special occasion. Lee loved boxing and Japanese anime.
Lee wasn't afraid of hard work and developed a lifetime of self-taught skills and specializations. He was a self-taught automotive mechanic, carpenter, plumber, welder, and heavy equipment operator. He was always willing to help others and had a very pleasant personality that easily made friends.
He leaves--to cherish precious memories--his wife, Sandra; daughters, Dawna S. Quick and Regina (Gabriel) Conyers; granddaughters, Aubriell and Ashlynn Conyers; four brothers, Caesar (Brenda) Quick of Fayetteville, NC, Pastor David (Debbie) Quick of Sumter, SC, Paul Quick of Columbus, MS, and Elder Daniel (Lucretia) Quick, High Point, NC; three sisters, Doris (Robert) Mason of Mullins, SC, Magaline Mitchell of New Port News, VA, and Angela Lingard of Warner Robins, GA; brothers-in-law, Albert Williams and Edward Alston; sisters-in-law, Dorothy A. (Larry ) Addison, Barbara A (Luther) Latten, Nancy A. Pollard, Vevy Ann Quick and Linda Alston. Additionally, he has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson; two brothers and a sister.
