LeRoy L. Stark, 86, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with services following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Concord Cemetery in rural Concord, Nebraska.
LeRoy was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 30, 1937. He spent his first years at the Child Saving Institute in Omaha, NE and was adopted by Ernest and Eva Stark of Allen, NE just a few months shy of his 4th birthday. He was raised on their family farm and graduated from Allen High School in 1956. It was there that he met his wife, Deanna Schneider. The two were united in marriage on August 16, 1959. They made their home in South Sioux City, NE where they raised their two boys, Douglas and Kent. After retirement, LeRoy and Deanna built a home on the farm property in Allen and lived there for 15 years before returning to South Sioux City.
LeRoy valued community. His involvement included being an active member of the United Methodist Church, Dixon County Museum Board, a member of the Volunteer Fire Department as well as many others. He enjoyed attending auction sales and collected many ‘treasures’ over the years. His most cherished times were spent with his family. LeRoy and Deanna were amazing parents and grandparents and their unconditional love and support will be greatly missed.
LeRoy is survived by his sons, Douglas (Carmen) Stark of South Sioux City, NE and Kent (Tally) Stark of Allen, NE; grandchildren, Jade, Adam (Jennifer), Megan (Nick), Austin (Erica), and Nicole Stark; step-grandchildren, Riley and Sarah Colwell; seven great-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Raymond and Richard Smith. LeRoy was grateful for the time he was able to spend with Raymond and his family in the past year.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Deanna.
