Sudie,
i just read of Leroy's passing and wanted to extend Toni's and my sympathy to you and Kamika. Other than our relationships with students, I think retired educators reflect most often on our relationships with our colleagues. I fondly remember those early days of working as a teacher and coach on the NBHS staff with Leroy. He was always helpful to me if I had any questions or concerns about the job, student-athletes, etc.
I recall how during our trips driving to ECU for grad school classes that we spent a lot of our time talking about family and it was easy to see how much Leroy and Kamika meant to you. Leroy was quite simply a good man!
I do pray that you and yours will find solace and comfort in your memories of Leroy and that Our Lord will bring you healing in this time of sorrow.

My heart goes out to you and the entire family Mrs. Way. I don´t have anyone to tell me I was the greatest 400m runner he ever had anymore. If it wasn´t for him I wouldn´t have known it for myself. He meant so much to many and especially to the student athletes of his era. May God bless you all and give you all a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Coach Way was my First Great Coach for Track and Field. I remember the day we first met. I just moved from New York. I was already a Track Star in New York. I asked him can I join your team. He said "No you have to wait until you are in the 7th grade" I said but I´m Fast. That´s following year of joining the team he made me better than I was in the 400, 200, 100, 4X100 , 4X400 , 4X200 and Long jump. He always believed in me when I didn´t think I could achieve to get better. He loved all his athletes and treated us all like his owe. I will miss you Brother.
