Coach Cheney, you made an impact on the lives of many students of SHS. You were a great man, you will be missed. RIP Coach.

Coach Cheney inspired and motivated us to reach our full potential in strength training, sports and life!
His legacy reaches far beyond his lifetime through all of his athletes and students.

As Mindy said, Mr. Cheney had a huge impact on all of us. He made every kid feel they could do anything or lift anything. He made a lifting T-shirt the most coveted thing in our school....Not because it was given, but earned. I loved being his aid, a weightlifting student, and having him as a track coach. I can still smell that room, feel the beat of the music(he would let us crank it), and remember the crowd around a bench as someone was trying to get that most wanted shirt. So sorry for your loss. Hopefully you will find some light in knowing he was so very respected and loved by so, so many students.

I am very sorry for your family´s loss. I hope it brings you some comfort in knowing that during his teaching/ coaching career he had a positive impact on countless people. We all loved taking his weightlifting classes due to his kind heart and the fact that he truly cared about kids. Sending prayers.

Sending prayers to the family and all those that feel this loss, I am sure there are many feeling this loss. A GREAT man and friend to many. A teacher and colleague - I will never forget the wisdom and stories he told.
