Lesa Drue Moorhouse, 67, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away on March 20, 2026 from the long-term effects of a traumatic brain injury suffered in a post-surgical fall. She was born on April 11, 1958, in West Palm Beach, FL, to John White Leonard and Donna Lee Bowman.
Lesa lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and a deep love for her family. She worked as a medical assistant, office manager, and phlebotomist. She will be remembered as a caring, loving, and giving person all while having a self-described “unfiltered mouth". She had a wry sense of humor. Lesa was remarkably strong—a true “pine knot”—having endured more than 36 surgeries in her life with unwavering determination.
In her free time, Lesa enjoyed gardening, watching football, and coloring on her tablet. She loved red roses.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Wopshall of Fort Pierce, FL; her son, Brett Moorhouse of Orlando, FL; her sister, Darwyn Pauly (Michael) of The Villages, FL; her grandchildren, Jayda Newton of Fort Pierce and Cayden Newton of Melbourne, FL; and her former husband and friend, Bruce Moorhouse of Fort Pierce.
Lesa was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Blair Platts and Johnny Leonard, and sister Lora Leonard.
A Memorial Service with Holy Eucharist will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 210 South Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Lesa’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and authenticity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
