I had a crush on Lesley when O was a young teenager in the sixties! I bought all of her albums and actually have for the first time have been listening to her songs on You Tube! I had the pleasure of seeing her live approximately 6 months before she passed at the IP Casino in Biloxi Mississippi! Still one of my top female singers ! I guess No. 1 as a solo performer! Maybe because of my crush on her! I was real saddened to learn of her death! Thank God for the albums so have and for You Tube!

I was just listening to one or her best songs on my TV and I just choked up listening to it. She and I were almost exactly the same age my birth date was 3/8/47. Loved her songs, so sad she's not still with us.

As a child growing up in the 50s & 60s I used to use my hairbrush as a microphone while singing to Leslie's hit songs! I didn't have a favorite as I loved them all! What a fantastic voice!

Lesley and I were close in age, and though I never met her, her music resonated with me from Its my Party to the end. She was and always will be part of the soundtrack of my life.

I was born in the early 50s and remember the song it´s my party but strangely enough not you don´t own me. This lady had an amazing voice and I am sure will still be making beautiful music wherever she may be.Condolences to your partner and loved ones.xxx

Her songs played such a significant role for young teenage girls in the 60s. And then came her anthem, "You Don't Own Me" . One of the most lasting and meaningful songs ever written! She was brilliant. Rest in peace Leslie.

My wife and I saw Lesley in concert one night in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was awesome. She did a concert tour with Gary Lewis and the playboys. Heaven needed another angel and you were it. Bye Lesley.

Her music was wonderful. She should definitely be in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame because she was one of the top female singers of the 1960's and her songs were fun to listen to and I enjoyed every one of them. One in particular, "All Of My Life", which I remember her singing on Shindig! April 7, 1965 has really become a favourite of mine. The lyrics are very heartfelt and I can relate to what she is singing about. I wish I could have seen her in concert. I was planning to attend a concert she was to appear at with Neil Sedaka and Frankie Avalon in the Buffalo, NY area in 2014, but it was cancelled. Obviously she had become ill, and I found out she had died in early 2015. I was so sad about this. I wish she could have known how much I loved her music and had a chance to meet her and get her autograph. I hope a close friend or family member sees this so they can know how much Lesley's music touched so many, including myself. God rest her soul.

When I was eight years old and living in Metuchen, New Jersey, I purchased my first LP, I'LL CRY IF I WANT TO (by Lesley Gore) with the allowance money I had saved. I was so proud and happy to buy that album! In fact, sixty years later I still have it. I purchased ALL of Lesley's albums (and more recently many as CDs). Lesley Gore and her great music became, and still remains, an important and enjoyable part of my life! Thanks, Lesley. R.I.P.

A radio song called "It's my party" was part of the "soundtrack" of my early youth in Vienna. Years later I was given an old single, "Goodbye Tony", sung in German by a certain Lesley Gore.
When I read in an Austrian newspaper that Ms. Lesley Gore had died, I realized that both songs were by her and I became very interested in her.
Now I know a lot about her life, I know almost all of her songs and I've become a big fan and admirer of hers! Lesley Gore was an adorable woman, an amazing singer, a wonderful, dedicated person. I will always adore and admire her!

Lesley Gore will always be remembered for her music/songs - It's My Party - Judy's Turn to cry - You Don't Own Me just to name a few- she's remembered along with American Bandstand and Dick Clark She will be missed by all who knew her!

I lived my entire life with Lesley Gore. The thrill of listening to her first song live on the radio in 1963 -- it was so vibrant and so different than anything else at the time -- was something I remember to this day. I was going into the seventh grade and Lesley Gore became my "favorite" artist from that time forward and forever through the years. Her public acceptance was great as she turned in 12 top 20 national hits in the 60s decade -- a feat that no one but the Beatles could duplicate. She sang two wonderful, critically acclaimed albums in 1970s, and went on to writing Academy Award winning songs. Perhaps greatest of all was her giving and generous personality. She never stopped doing charity work and working for free among people who needed it. Although she performed at the most prestigious nightclubs in the world, she always showed up every year for Cousin Brucie's charity benefit thrown by rock and roll stars. Much more can be said about this extraordinary woman, but it is her clarion voice and her ability to hit every note on tune that will be remembered. She is a star for the ages. Maybe someday people will be less prejudiced and consider her talents, realizing she is the first woman of rock and roll.

Although I discovered Lesley's music in February of 2015, I have learned a lot about this remarkable woman. She was a beautiful singer and had a huge heart. She will be remembered forever.

Please accept my sincere condolences. What a great voice did she has! Listening to her nice songs, takes me back to good memories in life. Her voice might not be around anymore to please our "taste", but her legacy is left for us to enjoy at anytime. This are times of grief and sorrow, especially for the family and close friends, may our Loving Father in the Heavens strengthen them to cope with it - Philippians 2:13: "For God is the one who for the sake of his good pleasure energizes you, giving you both the desire and the power to act."

I was so shocked and saddened when I first heard of Lesley's passing...I have been a fan since I first heard her song played on the radio back in the early 60's...Know the words to all of her songs...One of my favorites was "Look of Love"...Was a member of her fan club and yahoo group...Have her box set along with "records" in my jukebox and played them that evening in honor of her along with watching the T.A.M.I. ...Seeing her perform in that show once again brought back the reality of how amazing and beautiful she was...I saw her perform live several times; had a brief conversation along with getting her autograph...When I heard that she had died from lung cancer, my heart went out even more to her and her loved ones and what they had just gone through...I had lost my sister to lung cancer in 2011 and have since volunteered in memory of her to raise funds for research to help find a cure...I will now include Lesley's memory...her voice is now silent...but will always be alive through her music...may you RIP!
