Leslie Leon Sandifer, 89, of Dry Prong, Louisiana, was born October 18,1936 and passed away on November 18, 2025. Born in Alexandria, Louisiana, Leslie spent many years as a dedicated school bus driver for Colfax High School, safely transporting generations of students. In addition to his contributions to the local school system, he was an accomplished carpenter, known for building many homes in the community, showcasing his skill and craftsmanship.
Visitation for Leslie will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2025, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Gallagher Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Bro. Lloyd Whitman officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service and be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Colfax.
Leslie was an avid sportsman who cherished the outdoors. He spent countless hours in his deer stand, fishing, and simply enjoying the natural world. His love for gardening was profound, with a particular fondness for growing peas and watermelons, taking pride in watching his garden thrive season after season.
Family was the cornerstone of Leslie's life. He is survived by his children, Cindy Bullitt and Kelvin Sandifer; grandchildren, Miranda Matney (Bryan), Scott Bullitt (Lacey), Chris Bullitt (Lindsay), and Jared Sandifer (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Jack, Nora, Hynleigh, Raeelynn, Weston, Matti, Addie, and Ava; and sisters, Eva Smith (Larry), Glenda Newton, Lytle Jackson (Dolan), Barbara Fralick (Bobby), Ann Whitehead (Gene) and sister-in-law, Carrie Sandifer. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Sandifer, Clouttie Ivy Sandifer Gaspard; brother, James Sandifer; sister, Alice Bell; brother-in-law, Mark Newton and son-in-law, Benny Bullitt.
Leslie's legacy is marked by his love for his family, his passion for nature, and his lifelong contributions to his community through both his professional and personal life. He will be remembered as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
