Mr. Lester Meadows age 66 of the Granville Community ended his earthly journey at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday morning March 19, 2025 at the family's Granville Highway home with under the care of Gentiva Hospice of Livingston.
His pastor, Bro. Jackie Dawson, will officiate at the 11 a.m. Saturday morning March 22nd services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Meadows Cemetery, 5777 Clay County Highway at Moss. Kenny Westmoreland will officiate at the graveside. Interment will be near his parents.
The Meadows family will receive friends on Friday March 21st from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Sanderson in Carthage and again on Saturday after 9 a.m.
He was born Lester Meadows in Celina on September 18, 1958 and was one of eight children, five sons and three daughters, of the late Othor Washington Meadows who died at the age of 74 on November 25, 1983 and Ersie Hazel Head Meadows who died May 12, 2004 at the age of 91.
Siblings preceding Mr. Meadows in death were Korean War veteran Louis Franklin Meadows who died November 22, 1969 at the age of 40, Wanda Louise Meadows who died April 6, 1948 at the age of 11, a twin sister to Leslie, Eleen Meadows who died at birth on July 29, 1940, a brother, Charlie Meadows who also died at birth on November 22, 1931 and a sister-in-law Willadean Medows who died June 13, 2015 at the age of 69.
Mr. Meadows was a 1977 graduate of Celina High School.
At the home of Mrs. Martha Langford in Carthage on April 21, 2001, he was united in marriage to the former Suzanne Rochette Langford and the ceremony was officiated by former Smith County Clerk, Jimmy Norris.
On September 12, 1978 Mr. Meadows began employment with the William L. Bonnell Co. in Gordonsville and retired as maintenance supervisor in June of 2023 with forty-five years of service.
He has always loved the game of golf and has been an avid player since his retirement and before his illness.
He was saved on July 10, 2024 and was baptized by Bro. Jackie Dawson and became a member of the Carthage Full Gospel Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of almost twenty-four years are two children, Nathaniel Meadows of Algood, Brooke Meadows Westmoreland and husband Robert of Celina; two step-children, Shawndale McKinney and wife Christy of Smithville, Danielle Huffines and husband Spencer of Baxter; sister, Carolyn Baxter, two brothers, Leslie Meadows and Landon Meadows and wife Rachel all of the Moss Community; seven grandchildren, Alex, Erin and Nate Meadows, Kyler and Brynn Westmoreland, Asher Huffines and Tia McKinney. And Lester's precious fur baby, Pepper.
The Meadows family requests memorials to the Meadows Cemetery Mowing Fund.
