Lester Orward Meyers

Lester Orward Meyers, 91, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, Georgia.

Lester was born on March 7, 1934, in Harrisonburg, Louisiana, to Lonnie and Alma Meyers. Lester grew into a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather - and a proud veteran of the United States Navy.

Lester was an avid outdoorsman and a true sportsman at heart. Whether fishing on a quiet lake or waiting patiently in a deer stand, he found joy, peace, and purpose in the beauty of nature.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Marie Meyers; his parents, Lonnie and Alma Meyers; and his grandson, Casey Meyers.

Lester is survived by his sons: Lester Herbert "Rocky" Meyers of White, Georgia; Larry Martin Meyers of Dallas, Georgia; and James Marion Meyers of Alpharetta, Georgia. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Tory Sanders, Leah Jenkins, Lara Maynard, Krysta Yao, Taylor Meyers, Misty Meyers, and Katie Beutke; his great-grandchildren Hannah Jenkins, Addie-Grace Maynard, Lorelai Maynard, Kai Yao, Jason Meyers, Julia Meyers, and Zachary Meyers; and his great-great-grandchild, Sage Meyers; and a host of nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.

Lester's life was marked by service - both to his country and to the family he cherished. As a U.S. Navy veteran, he embodied honor, duty, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the many lives he shaped across five generations.

Friends and family are invited to share memories and pay their respects on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home, officiated by Michael McLean. A graveside service with military honors will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, with the procession departing the funeral home at 9:00 a.m.
