Mr. Lester "Lamar" Patterson, age 72, of Lavonia, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 10, 1953, Lamar was the son of the late Paul Patterson, Sr. and Daisey (Lyde) Pointer. Born and raised in Lavonia, Lamar overcame extraordinary early life challenges with resilience, hard work, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.

He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a member of Tom's Creek Baptist Church. After his service, Lamar graduated from Athens Technical College and went on to work as an electrician for over three decades. He retired from OFS in Atlanta, formerly known as Lucent Technologies.

Lamar was an avid lover of the outdoors and found great joy in camping, being on the lake, and beach trips with his family. His legacy is one of quiet strength, unconditional love, and a deep commitment to those around him. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family.

He is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Lamar is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Brenda Diane (Jordan) Patterson of Lavonia, GA; children: Amy Segars (Eric) of Carnesville, GA, Adam Patterson of Clayton, GA, and Nicole Beasley (George) of Lavonia, GA; grandchildren: Wyatt and Chance McFarlin, Amelia and Nathaniel Johnson, Mary Kate Patterson, Duncan Beasley, Luke Beasley, Blake Segars, Ryleigh Segars, Chloe Segars,  and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at New Franklin Christian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you simply lend a hand to someone in need—just as Lamar would have done.
