Lester Carey Polite

Lester Carey Polite, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, peacefully transitioned on January 31, 2026, at the age of 69. Born and raised in the city he proudly called home, Lester's life was deeply rooted in family, service, and community.

He was the beloved baby boy of six sons, raised by two devoted parents who were pillars in their community and instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and love for others. Those values shaped the man Lester became steady, joyful, and unforgettable.

Following high school, Lester began a career in hospitality, where he excelled in banquet management, a role perfectly suited for his leadership, warmth, and people-first spirit. His passion for service later led him to the University of Florida Health at Shands, where he worked as a Chef in dietary. During his tenure, Lester also served as President of the union, advocating tirelessly for his coworkers and earning respect for his voice, fairness, and dedication.

Lester was known far and wide for his infectious personality, quick wit, and unmistakable presence. He had a way of lighting up every room he entered bringing joy, stories, and genuine connection wherever he went. To know him was to laugh with him, and to love him was effortless.

Lester was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Polite Sr., his mother, Edna Mae Polite; and his beloved brothers, Robert Polite Jr., Elmer Polite Sr., and Anthony Polite.

He leaves to cherish his memory his dearest, beloved friend, and mother of his children Carol Polite. His three children Willie(Andrea), LaTisha(Christopher), and Cindy(Sean); his devoted brothers James Polite and Albert Polite; his fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his cherished godson Anthony Herndon; and his decade long friend Kenny Motley. He is also fondly remembered by a host of extended family members, friends, and coworkers who were blessed by his life.

Lester Carey Polite was truly some kind of wonderful. His legacy lives on through the love he poured into others, the laughter he freely gave, and the family he held close. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured.
