Remembering the Life of Lester White
A Time to Be Born
Lester White, lovingly known as Big Les and The Baby Boy, was born in Brockport, New York, on June 17, 1965, to the late Voncil Bouie and Cyril White. He grew up and attended school in Kendall Mills, New York. After graduating high school, Lester relocated to
Rochester, New York, where he began building the life and legacy we celebrate today.
A Time of Knowledge
Lester resided on Bay Street (Aunt Ermie's house), where the family always had large gatherings and enjoyed great times together. He became known throughout Rochester for frying the best chicken and fish around. Whenever there were large family gatherings, everyone knew Lester was doing the frying. Word spread quickly about his incredible cooking, and soon people all over the city were hiring him to cook for their events and celebrations.
Lester lived in Syracuse for a few years before moving back to Rochester. He worked various jobs throughout both Rochester and Syracuse during his lifetime.
A Time to Cherish
Lester was so proud when he got his own apartment. He loved hosting and cooking-breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it didn't matter. His door was always open to family and friends. He fed his neighbors too, sharing whatever he cooked with anyone who needed a good meal. Cooking was his passion, and some of the best times were spent at Lester's place-laughing, eating, and listening to him tell stories or share the latest news.
Lester was a truly extraordinary person-warm, generous, and full of life. As the youngest of nine, he made sure everyone knew he was "the baby." He had a sharp sense of style and loved to dress up, taking great pride in his appearance. Lester held a very special place in his heart for his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He often said, "All my nieces and nephews got keys and degrees," and he celebrated them-and everyone he loved-in his own unique way.
A Time to Wear a Crown
On November 8, 2025, the Lord whispered, and Lester answered. He suddenly transitioned into eternal rest and is now resting in perfect peace.
A Time of Legacy
Lester is predeceased by both his parents, Voncil Bouie and Cyril White; his brother, Nathaniel Bouie; and his special aunt and mother figure, Erma Calvin.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Lester White Jr. (Imani) and Montel White; one grandson, Montana White, all of Florida; seven siblings-three brothers: Aaron Bouie Jr. (Aletha) and Emanuel Bouie of
Rochester, NY; Calvin White (Enid) of Buffalo, NY-and four sisters: Pricilla Bouie, Lydia Michaux, Lucille Bouie-Brown, and Sharon Taylor (Robert). He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
