Lester "Butch" Witt, age 72, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Lester's unwavering devotion to his Christian faith was an integral part of his life and served as his moral compass. His humble spirit and loving heart were reflections of his deep faith. He was a beacon of hope and solace, a pillar of strength for those around him. His life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and compassion.
Lester's love for his family knew no bounds. He was a devoted husband, always there for Betty, providing support, love, and companionship. He was a loving father, his actions always guided by love and the desire to provide the best for his family. His dedication to his family was as immense as his faith, and he left an indelible imprint on their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Iva Mize Hornsby; birth father, Elijah Witt; sister, Kathleen Chadwell; and grandmother, Goldie Mize.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Smith Witt; children, Shawn Witt (Sheena) and Melissa Mayfield (Robert); grandchildren, Mackenzie Mayfield, Makayla Johnson, Shawn Trenton Witt, Cherrah Witt, Trevor Witt, and William Chadwell; great grandchildren, Elijah Johnson, Domonick Anderson, Hezekiah Smith, and Gabriel Chadwell; sister, Betty Jean Eaton; childhood friend, Charles Ray Eaton; friends, Bob and Karen Zink, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024, with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Brafford Cemetery in Gray, KY.
