Leuna Bouchillon Kay, 100, of Abbeville, wife of the late Howard E. Kay, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at NHC Healthcare Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville County to the late Lee Junot Bouchillon and Frances Mae Campbell Bouchillon.
A graduate of Antreville High School, Mrs. Kay dedicated her life to nurturing her family, creating a household filled with warmth and care. Her love for her family was matched only by her pride in her Huguenot heritage – cherishing the rich history that came with her lineage. Mrs. Kay was a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Kay Hodges and six brothers, Junot Glenn Bouchillon, Bonnie Louie Bouchillon, Archie ‘A.E.’ E. Bouchillon, Gilford Campbell Bouchillon, Claude Hobson Bouchillon and Roger L. Bouchillon.
Mrs. Kay is survived by her daughter, Angela Smith (Rick) of Abbeville; sister, Julia B. Alewine of Antreville; two grandchildren, Kay Horton (Josh) and Chip Hodges (Brantley); four great-grandchildren, Emory Horton, Noland Horton, James Hodges and Reese Hodges; and her son-in-law and his wife, Jim and Paula Hodges of Lake Secession.
The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in Bells Chapel GMC cemetery.
