Lidia Garcia Cisneros

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lidia Garcia Cisneros, age 98, who left this world peacefully on February 19, 2025, surrounded by love in her home in Abilene, Texas. Born on May 28, 1926, Lidia was a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to many.

She was a pillar of strength, caring, and protection for her loved ones, always putting family first. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her.

Lidia was known for her culinary skills, earning the affectionate title of "The Best Chef in the World" among her family. Her passion for cooking brought loved ones together, creating a legacy of memorable family gatherings filled with laughter, joy, and delicious meals. Whether it was sunny days at the beach or cozy evenings at home, Lidia’s presence was a source of comfort and happiness.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Martha and husband Jeff Barton and Lidia and husband Mauricio Hernandez ; her sons, Denis and wife Janet Garcia and Jose A. and wife Reyna Garcia and Sebastian and wife Claudia Garcia; and her adoring grandchildren, Martha B. Gruber, Jose A. Garcia, Denis E. Garcia, Stephanie Marie Sanchez, Lindsey J. Dickerson, Mauricio J. Hernandez, Patrick Hernandez, Denis A. Garcia; and Great Grandchildren Ezra, Antonio, Dexter, Alexander, Roxanne, Ashton, Lendon, Journee, Karolyn, Lester, Luis, Sebastian Jr. and Franklin each of them carries forward her love and spirit.

Family and friends will be invited to gather to celebrate Lidia’s remarkable life on February 25, 2025. Visitation starting at 10 am-12 and a Funeral Service Starting at 12 at Elmwood Funeral Home, at 5750 Hwy 277 South Abilene TX 79606.

In this time of sadness, we find solace in the love and blessings Lidia has given us all. She will forever remain in our hearts.

Lidia was preceded in death by: her parents Rogelio and Marta Cisneros, brothers Alfonso Cisneros, Napoleon Cisneros, sisters Isabel Castellon, Victoria Cisneros, Dolores Cisneros and daughter-in-law Sayra M. Garcia. .
